ONGAVA LODGE

Location

  • Situated along the southern boundary of the Etosha National Park, close to the Anderson Gate in northern Namibia.
  • South of Okaukuejo, in its 30,000 hectares own private game reserve.

Accommodation

14 large rock and thatched chalets consisting of:

  • 11 twins (2 extra beds available for children/triples)
  • 2 doubles
  • 1 family
  • 2 guide rooms(4guide beds) (not the same standard as guest rooms)

This camp can accommodate 30 guests plus tour leaders. It can also be combined with Little Ongava (premier style) and/or Ongava Tented Camp (vintage style) to increase capacity for a group

Game Viewing

Etosha is Namibia’s premier game viewing destination. Large herds of plains game concentrate around the waterholes in the dry season, making for exciting wildlife viewing. Species that can be seen year round include elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, springbok, oryx, kudu and the diminutive Damara dik-dik. Birdlife is also good with ostrich and raptors in abundance. Local specials include the Short-Toed Rocktrush, Hartlaub’s Francolin, Rockrunner, Ruppell’s Parrot, White-tailed Shrike and Chestnut Weaver.

Ongava Game Reserve is one of the few private game reserves in Southern Africa where you have a chance of seeing both black and white rhino. The reserve also has a good population of lion, eland, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, black-faced Impala and a number of other antelope species.

  • Full day excursions into Etosha National Park (subject to availability of vehicles)

Suggested Daily Activity Schedule

  • 05h30- Wake-up, Full English /Continental buffet breakfast.
  • 06h00 - Depart for Etosha (15 minute game drive to the gate).
  • 12h00 - Return to the lodge for lunch.
  • 16h00 - Tea with sweet snack is served.
  • 16h30 - Depart on nature drive on Ongava property with sundowners.
  • 20h00 - Dinner on outside wooden deck overlooking floodlit water hole, weather permitting.
Electricity & Water
  • 220 volt mains. Should you need an adaptor plug for a special appliance, please enquire at reception.
  • Solar Geyser heated water.
Drinks Policy

Local drinks and house-wines are included but premium imports are not for fully inclusive tariff.

Laundry Policy

Daily service is included in the nightly fully inclusive tariff.

Payment can be affected by cash, travellers’ cheques or Visa/MasterCard.

Gratuity

The following is the suggested gratuity schedule only and is subject to service standard:

R100 per guest per day. This will be divided up amongst the camp staff

  • Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier wildlife destination and one of Africa's largest game parks. Large herds of wildlife teem around the waterholes and the endless plains offer breath-taking vistas.

Guests are collected from the airstrip and transfered to the lodge by game drive vehicle.

Luggage

There is a 20kg luggage restriction per person for any charter transfers. Please note that the cargo pods on a normal light aircraft cannot handle suitcases and hard bags, so luggage must be packed in soft bags.
